Accommodation

Eleven bedrooms, each with ensuite facilities, provide stylish accommodation for professional groups of 20 or more. Most rooms enjoy use of shared terrace from which to soak up the views of the Quinta.

Two dormitories (with adjacent showers and toilets) each sleeping 16 students.

Food

The Quinta has three kitchens and excellent barbecue facilities for self-catering. You may chose to provide your own breakfasts and lunches, and in the evening sample the local cuisine at bistros within 15 minutes walk.

The Quinta staff will recommend nearby supermarkets and restaurants and will cook for you by prior arrangement - spit- roasted lamb makes a spectacular final dinner.

Facilities

The original farmhouse has two beautiful communal areas with vaulted ceilings in the Alentejan tradition; here you can relax with a drink or hold more intimate discussion sessions.

A spacious hall seating over 100 people provides a flexible space for talks, dining or concerts. The resident manager is also a professional musician who will happily give your group a flute recital.

Two lecture /seminar rooms are equipped with blackboard, overhead and slide projectors. There is a science library with sections on local flora and fauna and the analysis of ecological data.

Part of the old house (the winery) has been converted into a dedicated laboratory and is available for visiting scientists.

A large terrace room is also ideal as a dining or meeting room.

There is a large outdoor tiled games board where you can enjoy a game of giant chess or draughts or you can challenge each other to a game of table tennis.

See 'What to Bring' under Q & A for further details on equipment provided.
